RutledgeLee J. Rutledge, Senior Associate, National School Reform, provides leadership coaching to state teams to strengthen school turnaround and teacher effectiveness initiatives, increase the use of evidence-based instructional practices, and facilitate cross-agency collaboration. He also leads numerous school and district improvement initiatives throughout the United States. Previously, Rutledge was appointed by Gov. O’Malley to the Maryland Council on Educator Effectiveness. In addition, he served on the executive board of the Baltimore Teachers’ Union and on the Joint Oversight Committee responsible for implementing landmark performance pay and peer review systems. Rutledge taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels and was recognized as a model teacher. His areas of expertise include leadership development, using data to drive instructional improvements, curriculum design, student growth measures, and compensation reform.
