Seattle Public Schools partnered with the Innovations Lab at CTAC to engage parents and community members—speaking nine different languages—as equal partners in school improvement. We jointly secured a Congressional earmark to support this initiative, No Parent Left Behind.

Results:

  • Guided the train-the-trainers process which prepared a corps of culturally and linguistically diverse Seattle Public Schools staff, community organization representatives and parent instructors. They trained other parents and community members districtwide to better understand and act upon student, teacher and school data.
  • Produced and published parent training materials in Amharic, Chinese, English, Lao, Somali, Spanish, and Tigrigna.
